Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can. What you type into the generator goes to our AI provider to write your email and isn't stored. We don't use cookies for advertising or analytics, and we don't sell data. Here's exactly what we keep, why and for how long.

Who we are
Email Marketing for Restaurants (emailmarketingforrestaurants.org) is run by Evan. Questions about this policy go to hello@emailmarketingforrestaurants.org.
The email generator and free tools
What you type into the email generator, the subject line generator or the newsletter ideas generator is sent to our server and to our AI provider, the AnyTomD API relay (relay.anytomd.com), which forwards requests to OpenAI's GPT models, only to write your draft. We don't store it, and it isn't written to our logs, our analytics or page addresses.
Your draft exists only in your browser tab until you leave the page. When you pick an idea in a small tool and open the generator, the idea is passed in your browser's session storage and deleted as soon as the generator reads it.
Daily limits and abuse protection
To enforce the free daily limit, we combine your IP address with the date and a secret key and keep only the resulting one-way hash, for no more than 2 days. We never store the IP address itself.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that requests to the generator and to our email forms come from a person. Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser for this under its own privacy policy.
Usage records
For each generation we keep metadata only, for 90 days: which tool, the email type, tone and length you chose, the AI model, how much text it processed, the cost, how long it took and whether it worked. Nothing you typed and nothing the AI wrote is kept.
Email addresses you give us
If you download the template pack, we keep your email address, the page you were on, whether you asked for one email idea a month, the wording you agreed to and when, and when we sent your download link. We send that one email through Resend.
If you didn't ask for monthly ideas, we delete your address after 30 days. If you did, we keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
If you join the Pro waitlist, we keep your email address, the option that describes you, what you'd use Pro for if you told us, and when you joined. We use it only to tell you when Pro is ready and, perhaps, to ask you 2–3 questions. We delete waitlist entries when Pro launches or after 12 months, whichever comes first.
Submitting the same address again updates your entry; it never creates a second one.
Links to email platforms
Links to the platforms we compare go through a short redirect on our site so we can count clicks. We record which platform, the page and part of the page the click came from, and when. No IP address or anything else that identifies you. We keep these counts for 12 months.
Analytics and cookies
We use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that doesn't use cookies. Besides page views, we send it a few events, such as “copied an email” or “downloaded a file”, with fixed labels only: never anything you typed, your email address or a link.
We don't set cookies for advertising or analytics.
Who processes data for us
These services handle data on our behalf, only to run this site:
- Cloudflare: hosting, our database and Turnstile
- the AnyTomD API relay (relay.anytomd.com), which forwards requests to OpenAI's GPT models: writing drafts from what you type into the generator and tools
- Resend: sending the template download email
- Plausible: privacy-friendly analytics
We don't sell your data
We don't sell, rent or share your information for advertising, and we don't show ads.
Your choices and requests
Every monthly idea email has an unsubscribe link. To see or delete what we hold about your email address, email hello@emailmarketingforrestaurants.org from that address, and we'll reply with what we hold or confirm that it's deleted.
Children
This site is for restaurant owners and managers and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change, we update this page and the date at the top.
